Our smart EV charging solution has been crowned the winner of the prestigious “Excellence in Business to Consumer” category of the German Innovation Award 2023, having impressed the judging panel with its sustainable features, user-friendly set-up, and great-looking design.

Putting Innovation Center Stage

The German Innovation Award showcases innovations that have the potential to shape our future and improve the way we all live our lives. Since it was launched in 2018, this cross-industry award has celebrated products, processes, and solutions that put users first and bring real added value, over and above the solutions currently available on the market. Sometimes the smallest detail can have a significant impact and the German Innovation Awards are about recognizing these vital developments, big or small.

Gold for Fronius Wattpilot

The German Innovation Award is split into two main categories—“Excellence in Business to Business” and “Excellence in Business to Consumer”—and it was in this second category that our Fronius Wattpilot really impressed the panel, taking home the Gold award in recognition of this outstanding innovation.

E-Mobility That Drives Us All Forward

The panel were especially impressed by the financial and environmental benefits offered by Fronius Wattpilot and praised its market-ready, yet future-proof, design. They liked that the product provides a long-term cost-effective charging solution for customers, with options to use surplus energy from their own PV system or configure the system to charge when electricity rates are cheapest.

Plus, they thought the design looked great and the product was really user-friendly. “The product is compact, easy to use, and convenient. It has a modern and attractive design, and blends in seamlessly with many different environments and architectural styles.”

But that wasn’t all... They also praised Fronius for developing two product variants—Fronius Wattpilot Home and Fronius Wattpilot Go—which give customers greater flexibility in charging and running their EVs.

In the panel’s words: “The fact that the manufacturer also offers a mobile charging solution is a really nice touch, which gives customers greater flexibility and should help encourage more people to switch to using an EV.”

Shaping the Future

The award ceremony for this year’s German Innovation Award took place on May 23, 2023, at the Futurium museum in Berlin and was a wonderful celebration of the theme for this year’s awards “Shaping the future.”
